NOTE: YOU MUST RESTART YOUR COMPUTER WITH AUTOMENUS IN YOUR SYSTEM FOLDER OR CONTROL PANELS FOLDER BEFORE YOU CAN ACCESS THE CONTROL PANEL.
On systems below 7.0, the AutoMenus icon will not show up in the Control Panel if you have not restarted your Mac with AutoMenus 5.3 in your system folder.
AutoMenus 5.3 requires System 6.0.4 or higher. It will not load on systems with earlier versions of system software.
Note that in version 5.3 and later, once the demo life has expired, that copy of AutoMenus is not longer any good. You will not be able to access the Control Panel to register it. So if you register it without receiving a disk, be sure you save a clean, unused copy.
AutoMenus 5.3 enhancements:
1. Menus would disappear prematurely. Fixed.
2. Menus with graphics would not handle properly. Fixed.
3. You no longer have to restart to see changes made within the Control Panel.
4. When the mouse pointer was moved outside of a menu area within the menu bar, all Mac processes were still hung up until the mouse was moved outside the menu bar. Now, when you move the mouse into a non-menu zone (such as the 10 pixels to the left of the Apple menu) AutoMenus deactivates itself. This is great for utilities which need these areas to work. You don’t need to be careful about accidentally selecting a menu when using these utilities anymore.
5. Removed animated icon at startup. This caused to many problems with init managers.
6. Expiration dialog no longer shows up at boot time. It waits until the Finder has completed loading.
7. AutoMenus now checks to see which system its running under and acts accordingly for each (System 6.0.4 - 7.0.x).
8. The help items menu in the help dialog did not check items properly. Fixed.
9. And several more internal changes not visible with the naked eye. :-)
